Stepping into Taurus season and Pluto retrograde (with Liz Worth)

On Saturday, April 20, the Sun entered Taurus where it will be until May 21.

Where Aries initiates the season of spring, Taurus keeps it in place. That’s the job of the fixed signs: They maintain and hold tight.

What do you want to maintain in your life these days?

It doesn’t always have to be something that you’ve already got. With Jupiter retrograde until August 10, the universe is asking you to pay attention to whether the opportunities or goals you’ve already set for yourself still hold true – if not, this spring season still offers plenty of time to plant seeds of a different flower.

What would you like to see growing in your garden?

Taurus time is often seen as one of abundance and growth – it is the bloom of the crop that we can harvest later in the fall.
But it is also a time to stop and smell the roses, as the saying goes. Taurus takes its time and unlike its predecessor Aries, it can appreciate the beauty of a good break.

Taurus reminds us that once our seeds are planted, we can put some trust in nature to help with the work. Our own maintenance may involve a certain level of commitment towards our hopes and dreams.

Plants can’t survive without proper nutrients, but at the same time too much water or sunlight doesn’t allow them to thrive, either.
The Ten of Swords is the card that was pulled for this week. It doesn’t scream Taurus energy, but I often look at this card as the end of a cycle, one where something new breaks through after taking on the weight of the world.

The Ten of Swords shows that too much pressure threatens our ability to thrive.

Yet there is no Eleven of Swords – this card draws the line. It says, “That’s it. The pain stops here.”

And so perhaps that’s the lesson to find in it this week as we embrace the slower nature of Taurus:

What is it time to stop doing?

If you are growing a garden, nature will take over the process to some extent. Yes, you have to show up to tend to what you’ve planted, but you also have to step back sometimes and wait.

Knowing when to let go is key to Taurus season.

On Wednesday, April 24, Pluto retrograde begins. Pluto moves slowly and this retrograde period will take us into early October.

Pluto is such a far-reaching energy that it’s not always one we’re immediately conscious of. Its work is slow medicine and in the sign of Capricorn these coming months may have you looking at your relationship to authority, the status quo, and work as it’s represented within the collective:
  • Do you relate to society’s expectations of work?
  • Do you see yourself reflected in the current systems and models?
  • Do you feel you’re working within outdated roles or perceptions?

There is greater change in the air as we move towards 2020 and beyond. Old paradigms are already shifting but they are due for more. Pluto in Capricorn is slowly weaving necessary questions into the collective consciousness so that we can each embrace the necessary changes at an individual level.

Don’t force yourself to fit into moulds that were never made for you in the first place.

Until next time,

Liz xo
