Self-Care Tips for the Holidays

Now we're going to look at creating self-care tips for the holidays, that align with your services. Why is self-care so important this time of year? Take a look at the Holiday Stress Report (American Psychological Association, 2006) and you'll see why:

According to Consumer Reports National Research Centre, here are some of the things people stress about most:

68%: Crowds and long lines
37%: Gaining weight
37%: Getting into debt
28%: Gift shopping
25%: Traveling
24%: Seeing certain relatives
23%: Seasonal music
19%: Disappointing gifts
16%: Having to attend holiday parties or events
15%: Having to be nice
12%: Holiday tipping

Take a look at these examples of tip lists on how to cope with the holiday pressures, and think about how your own services may help:

Using your expertise and the research provided, craft your own 5-10 tips using one of the infographic templates from your canva account.

This infographic you create will be something to help raise awareness to your community of existing clients (and their friends, if they share your post), that you care about what they are going through and have some solutions that may help.

When writing your tip list, think about a range of things they can do to cope - not only things that have to do directly with your services. Be genuine about what you think they can do to help. You'll have the chance to weave in a service offering later in the week.

Preparing Your Post

You might prefer to write an article about the importance of self-care over the holidays, or if you're running low on time, share an article that you found (or one of these provided) that really resonates as helpful for your audience. At any rate, you want to prepare for a post that will occur this Thursday, so write it up, and have a couple trusted peers review it!
