Call it Out
A 30-minute interactive eCourse by the Ontario Human Rights Commission, that offers a foundation for learning about race, racial discrimination and human rights protections under Ontario's Human Rights Code. The course offers a historical overview of racism and racial discrimination, explains what “race,” “racism” and “racial discrimination” mean, and provides approaches to preventing and addressing racial discrimination. |
Preventing Discrimination Based on Gender Identity and Gender Expression
Ontario’s Human Rights Code (the Code) is a provincial law that sets out legal rights and obligations to protect people from discrimination. In 2012, three parties of the Ontario Legislature co-sponsored Toby’s Act, the Bill that added “gender identity” and “gender expression” as prohibited grounds of discrimination under the Code.[9] The grounds make it clear that trans people and other gender non-conforming individuals are entitled to legal protections in the same way that people are protected from discrimination and harassment based on race, age, disability and all other prohibited grounds.[10] Please read through this policy, which describes important background information, terms, forms of discrimination, best practices, and so much more. |

- Every practitioner working at the IAC has clients that are all walking a different path, we ask that everyone extend their judgement and use their most caring manner when interacting with all people at the IAC
- We ask that you ask your clients to conduct themselves as best they can, in a similar manner of respect, and gentleness when interacting with others at the IAC.

Speaking in Common Spaces
Talking in the hallways when sessions are occurring, or the downstairs entrance when the studio is in use, needs to be kept to a minimum and be in hushed voices. Please make use of the practitioner's lounges for this purpose.
Everyone using the Inner Arts Collective is on a healing journey of some kind. Some are more receptive than others and some are more vulnerable. Some are more self-aware and some are quite oblivious to their environment and the people around them. It is important that we allow each other to deal with our own clients and/or students when it comes to these issues. If you are having difficulties with another Member or their client or student please find a private moment to communicate with the instructor or practitioner directly about these issues so that they can direct their clients or students accordingly. If you would prefer you could speak to Sarah or Melanie and we will communicate with the practitioner personally.
White Noise Machines
There are white noise machines on each floor. They are there to protect the privacy of the clients in the offices. If they are on, please do not turn them off.
