Alison Chan, RCST®
Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy (BCST) Transforming Touch® In-person and virtual sessions RELIEVING PAIN and TRAUMA, CULTIVATING RESILIENCE
I help women with emotional struggles or health problems who feel stuck and disconnected, and who want a body-centred way to get better.* These struggles can often be connected to gestation, birth and early life difficulties, even if we are unaware of our history. In working together, I help my clients relieve symptoms, build physical and emotional resilience, and increase capacity for pleasure, joy, personal growth, and connection to others. I combine light-touch therapy (BCST) with other somatic approaches for healing the emotional and physical self. The work we do together settles the nervous system and allows physical and emotional restrictions to come up safely and gently to be resolved. Clients relax, fully clothed, on a massage table or in a comfortable chair during this process. Studies show clearly that early life stress in the womb, at birth, and in the first few years is linked to emotional/mental health difficulties and chronic health conditions (including diabetes, auto-immune conditions, chronic pain, fibromyalgia, gut disturbances, anxiety and depression). My goal is to help you orient to the health in your body, no matter your circumstances. In the process, many symptoms improve and can even clear. We work together to deepen your relationship to your body so that you come away with tools to stay grounded and present in your life. (*I welcome women who are Intersex, Trans and genderqueer.) |
BACKGROUND
I am trained in Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy and am a registered practitioner with BCTA/NA since 2013. I also trained in pre- and perinatal somatic therapy, working with adults to repattern birth and early-life trauma, and in Transforming Touch (TEB) with Stephen J. Terrell. This work builds resilience in the nervous system, integrates early infant reflexes and supports healing from developmental trauma (including conception, gestation, birth and early life).
I make every effort to be trauma-informed and hold a BIPOC-supportive, LGBTQ+ positive space.

A REFLECTION ON LIFE SINCE 2020
The past few years have seen a 25% increase in anxiety, depression and other mental health challenges. The combination of life- and livelihood-threatening stresses, and the lack of social support and connection has been devastating for so many of us.
In addition, there is deep grief and loss: the loss of loved ones; the loss of our old lives; for some, our key relationships and very identities have had to shift. All of that is a heavy load to carry in the body.
Know that there is a way through, by allowing our systems to be held and witnessed in a safe, slow space and with a safe person. Your body knows what it needs and what to do.
Currently seeing fully vaccinated people in-person.
