12/10/2018 0 Comments Weekly Forecast for December 10th
Following energies and omens always requires balance and discernment for each of us on an individual basis. We all need to decide what applies to us, and how relate these things to our own experiences – or not. I never want to share these messages in a way that sounds flippant or naïve. I never want to bypass the full spectrum of life itself. Instead, I believe that the more we accept and acknowledge that there is chaos in the world, the more conscious we become of ways to make space for the good. Ignoring the challenges doesn’t make them go away. And sometimes, when I see the Sun card, I take it as a reminder to enjoy the little things in life, but to also be careful not to become blinded by the light to the point where I can no longer see the truth. Earlier this year, I met with one of my spiritual teachers. She told me she committed to her spiritual path seventeen years ago as a way to help eliminate chaos in the world. She teaches and counsels, hoping to reach just one person at a time. The basis of her teachings is simple:
I have thought a lot about these ideas lately. Especially as we wind down 2018 and start to look ahead to a fresh calendar year. There have been so many terrible things happening in the world lately. And yes, I know that we can say is true throughout all of history, but this is our moment, our time, and still, we wonder:
And then I think how overwhelming those questions can be, and so I take myself back to the messages of my teacher: That we can work against chaos through patience and kindness. By coming through for each other by… …holding the elevator door for someone else (even if you’re in a hurry)… …wishing someone well with their success (even when you’re struggling to make it)… …making time to see a friend who might really need a night out (even though your to-do list is piling up). This week, the Moon is waxing, and so our emotional energies can grow, too. What might you make space for in your heart right now? Where might you ask someone else to make space for you? And when Mercury enters fiery Sagittarius again this Wednesday, December 12, where might you be asked to apply these ideas further? Mercury in Sagittarius can cause people to react quicker than they should. It may be more challenging to practice patience right now, but when that challenge arises, it’s a notice from the universe to be more careful than usual. The energies of the week ahead ask: Where can you transform any collective rage, anger, or resentment and counteract it with a joyful, simple, generous act? Until next time, Liz xo

If you’ve been caught up in the current Mercury retrograde period, you can breathe a sigh of relief: Mercury goes direct this Thursday, December 6. There are always multiple factors that influence us at any given time. Astrologically, there can be many other planets that are working on your side. For example, Jupiter entered its home of Sagittarius in early November, which can help bring blessings and ease into your life. How we choose to move through the world has an influence on what we experience, too. Some people blame Mercury retrograde for delays and disorganization, but if someone chronically struggles with time management, then they also need to look at how their own actions have factored into any snafus they’ve experienced during Mercury retrograde. In other words: We can use astrology to become more aware of the themes, energies, and potentials that are available to us. But it shouldn’t be used as a crutch or an excuse. We each have to know the world we are navigating. Infrastructure, politics, and socioeconomic circumstances can have just as much of an impact on your personal experiences as astrology will. The key is in remembering that we are operating as part of a whole, and to look for ways to find solutions to the obstacles we run up against. This Mercury retrograde has brought a special focus on worldview, perspective, mindset, and truth. It started in the sign of Sagittarius on November 16 and slipped back into truth-teller Scorpio on December 1. In Sagittarius, Mercury retrograde forces us to connect to our personal beliefs and philosophies – the things we consider to be true. Here, you might have had the cover lifted off of something you felt was real, or right. These past few weeks might have revealed new layers to your personality, or new perspectives that shifted your world. It can be uncomfortable experience when you start to see something for what it is – especially when you thought you already had it figured out. Mercury retrograde in Sagittarius reminds us, too, that no one has all the answers. Which can be another source of pain for those who had a moment of humility these past few weeks. But not to worry: If you had to retrace your steps, apologize, or take back something you said, you are doing the work this retrograde is asking of you. It’s also part of the personal expansion that the universe is offering each of us right now. Growth can come by allowing ourselves to see that we can’t always be right. And it can come by allowing for new ideas, opinions, and angles to open our minds, especially if they have become too narrow in some of their views. With Mercury now in transformative, cleansing Scorpio, you have the opportunity to shed an old belief until December 12, when Mercury enters Sagittarius again.
Sagittarius is a big energy, and so its questions and intentions will match its infinite potential. It is idealistic, visionary, and expansive, and so it asks you to allow your imagination to see grater possibilities for the future. If you’d like to connect with this New Moon in Sagittarius on Friday, December 7, here is a tarot spread to help:
Until next time, Liz xo
Scorpio season is winding down this week. On Thursday, November 22, the Sun enters bright, energetic Sagittarius at 4:01am EST. Sagittarius is ruled by Jupiter. Under this influence, our focus can shift to big plans and bigger dreams. The Sun will be conjunct Jupiter, helping to enhance this benevolent energy. The mood can be uplifting, optimistic, and promising. (The Sun, Mercury, and Jupiter all join up early next week, so this energy will continue to build in the days to come. Enjoy it.) Sagittarius is a marked shift from Scorpio, which helps us to transition into this late fall season. Scorpio has been helping us to see how the year has shaped us, and what we are ready to shapeshift into during the colder winter months. I always find Sagittarius season to be busy, but for me, the busyness is always more focused on play rather than productivity. When we are back in the element of fire, we can feel inspired to get moving in some way. For some, that might mean moving from one plan to the next. For others, it might mean moving through an exciting new creative period – especially if the muse was on hiatus during the recent Venus retrograde. (And yes, Mercury is retrograde in Sagittarius right now, though I find Mercury retrograde periods to be highly fruitful for new ideas – it’s as though Mercury is casting a wide net into the ether and catching all kinds of bright new possibilities that you can work on down the road.) On Friday, November 23, the Gemini Full Moon arrives at 12:39am EST. Full moons can help us to birth new understandings, concepts, or projects, or to bring things to completion. In Gemini, this Full Moon can help you to tap into questions and intentions about how you use your voice: What do you have to say, and are your words being heard? This can be a powerful time for writers, public speakers, educators, and other communicators. But then, aren’t we all communicators by nature? Pay attention to communication and connection at this time, as well as things you may be learning, or hoping to master. This Full Moon will connect back to the Gemini New Moon we had six months ago in the late spring, so if you set intentions then, check in on them to see how they’re doing. Personally, I love Gemini moons. I find they act as creative channels, once again helping to tap into some fresh ideas and perspective. If you are in need of a creative breakthrough, or have something important to figure out, set some intentions this week to have this Friday’s Moon help shed some light on it for you.
Whatever is happening for you at this time, the week ahead asks you to stay in tune with the magic that you can create, in whatever form it may take: “I surrender to the power that resides within.” And if you’d like to connect with this Friday’s Full Moon, here is a tarot spread to help: 1. What has been hibernating within me for the past six months? 2. What truth am I ready to share with the world? 3. How can I amplify my voice? 4. What is my imagination trying to tell me?
11/12/2018 0 Comments One retrograde ends, another begins: Lets talk Mercury and Venus! (by Liz Worth)Venus retrograde began back on October 5 in the sign of Scorpio. The planet of love, beauty, and art has since slipped back into Libra. These past six weeks may have stirred something up for you on a personal level. Venus retrograde can be a time to reconnect with your values and needs. Throughout the process, you get to check in with what’s most important to you and see how much space those priorities actually get in your life. Sometimes, we end up surprised by what we learn about ourselves in the process. Who or what we love doesn’t always get as much attention as it needs. Who or what we love doesn’t always give back as much as we’d like it to. Sometimes, that’s okay. Sacrifice and compromise can be necessary, and sometimes that’s all we can manage. But other times, we realize that we can change things up. Or that we need to. People end up making some big decisions during Venus retrograde.
Venus retrograde can be an uncomfortable time because the things that make us comfortable don’t always flow as easily. Venus is a creative muse, and our sources of inspiration can feel tired, our motivation lacking. But retrogrades are meant to be periods of rest, and also times when new ideas emerge – though they may not feel ready to be acted upon yet. As Venus has travelled through Scorpio and Libra with this retrograde, we have been asked to look at our inner worlds as much as our interpersonal ones. Scorpio is introverted and private, but Libra likes to be paired up. This has been a journey that has started from the inside out, reaching into the depths of the soul and psyche and extending itself to our closest relationships. On Friday, November 16, Venus stations direct at 5:51am EST. What has been under construction, or on hold, for your personal and creative life will start to flow again soon. It may have a slightly new road map to follow than before, but it will serve you well in your next chapter. Retrogrades help us to make the changes we need, or take the breaks our hearts and bodies demand – even if it doesn’t always feel easy at the time. Which brings us to Mercury: The messenger planet begins its final retrograde period of 2018 this week, too, at 8:33pm EST. Mercury retrograde begins in Sagittarius. Mercury rules our thoughts, and when it’s in Sagittarius, we can find ourselves daydreaming about big plans, far off places, and new ideas or projects to explore. Sagittarius doesn’t like to be confined, so it can bring a sense of wanderlust and a need for intellectual, spiritual, or philosophical stimulation. You might it harder to focus on the here and now once this retrograde kicks in. But you might also struggle to feel as connected to a big dream or special plan at the moment. Don’t quit on something if pessimism creeps in. It may just be the universe telling you to ease up on yourself a bit. Don’t put so much pressure on yourself right now to have everything little detail figured out.
Until next time, Liz xo Liz Worth
As we start a new week, you may be asking yourself questions similar to these. Jupiter, the planet of expansion and growth, the planet that opens doors and pathways, has spent the last year in Scorpio. Scorpio’s lair is a place of shadow and mystery, secrets and depth. Throughout this time, we have seen assumptions and judgements around sexuality and gender being called out – and necessarily so. We have seen shame being challenged, and abuses of power being not only questioned, but brought into public light. This is the power of Jupiter in Scorpio – an exploration into things that were once hidden and are now being opened wide. And this is just one facet of Jupiter in Scorpio, and just one influence our universe has us under at the moment. Jupiter in Scorpio has also helped many of us to excavate our own mysteries. It has been a powerful year for intuitive exploration. There has been an unmistakable trend towards tarot, astrology, witchcraft, and other spiritual and divinatory practices, not just throughout this last year, but several now. Jupiter in Scorpio, however, has helped to open the way even further within that realm. Scorpio doesn’t shy away from the esoteric as these are all paths to personal power, something that this energy constantly seeks. And so when I ask the questions above, I do so out of reflection on some of the transformational energy that Jupiter in Scorpio has offered throughout this past year. Perhaps you tapped into a hidden talent, or reconnected with an old dream you thought you’d lost. Perhaps you took a brave step towards your own healing. Or made amends with the past. Or confronted something that you could no longer stay silent about. Perhaps you got closer to your truth, closer to the intentions you want to be living out on a daily basis. Perhaps your intuition tapped you on the shoulder one day and told you to wake up to a new reality. Maybe you experienced something entirely different, but no less significant. It has been a heavy year in many ways, and it’s time now to take whatever you are nurturing, or nursing, and give it any affection or tenderness that is required. The Scorpio New Moon arrives this Wednesday, November 7, marking the middle of the week as a time to give yourself the gift of healing. Maybe you are seeking peace. Or forgiveness. Or recommitment to who you are. Maybe you are ready to shed something from the past. Whatever you are inviting in right now, think of this New Moon as one of rebirth. It is a time to rise into something new. It is a time to leave an old story behind, if you feel it’s necessary to do so. On Thursday, November 8, Jupiter ends its transit through Scorpio and enters Sagittarius. This may feel like a page is turning. The energy will shift. Jupiter rules Sagittarius. It is returning home to the fiery sign of the centaur, where magic and myth occur. It is taking reprieve from the intensity of Scorpio’s underworld and travelling through Sagittarius’ jovial territory. If Scorpio is associated with the sign of phoenix, which always rises from the ashes, then this is the phoenix in flight. Bright, warm, and ready for anything.
If it helps, here is an intention you can use in the days ahead: I invite any blocks or barriers to lift so that ease can enter my heart. And if you would like to use tarot to connect with the energies of this Scorpio New Moon, here is a tarot spread to help: Card #1: What can I let go of now? Card #2: What can I heal now? Card #3: What can I commit to now? Card #4: What can I become now? 10/29/2018 0 Comments The ancestors at your back: Welcoming Samhain, All Soul’s day, and Venus in Libra (by Liz Worth)It’s not the first time I’ve seen repeating cards when I write these messages. Once again, the Nine of Cups has followed us into the week. I love this card. It’s one of my favourite to see in a reading, as it represents so many blessings all at once. But most of all, it represents simple joy, something we all need and deserve. This card might at first feel like a strange juxtaposition to the week ahead. On Wednesday, October 31, we welcome Halloween, or Samhain. And then All Soul’s Day on Thursday, November 1. While all of Scorpio season is a powerful time to connect with your intuition, ancestors, and magic, these are the dates that are so often discussed as the times when the veils between worlds are at their thinnest. As Scorpio season helps us to embrace any change in season within our own lives, October 31 and November 1 encourage us to find support, guidance, and remembrance in those who have come before, too. And so that’s one of the messages I’m taking from the Nine of Cups this week: To allow yourself to lean on those who have come before you. It’s so easy to forget that so many other lives had to be lived so that we can be here, now. It’s also easy to feel detached, or distant, from our ancestral lineages, especially if it’s not something you know, or were taught to understand. But Daniel Foor, author of Ancestral Medicine, talks about finding that connection through the land itself. By not focusing on the ancestors who you may have known as extended family, but to think more holistically about all the places your body came from, and the people and stories – a thousand years’ worth – that your body contains. How might you feel a little more supported, a little richer, a little more connected, if you took some time this week to learn a folktale or myth from part of your distant past? What if you took a moment to find richness there, and to celebrate it by lighting a candle for those who came before you? Use this light as a way to say thank you, or to sit in meditation and invite some ancient guidance into your life. October may have felt energetically charged so far, but some of that energy will begin to lift on the 31st, too, whether you choose to have it supported by your ancestors or not. Mercury leaves Scorpio for Sagittarius at 12:38am EST on October 31, allowing our thoughts to come up for air and eventually take flight with the agile, inspired energy that Sag offers. You might feel optimism, hope, and understanding deepen for you later in the week. Venus continues its retrograde, slipping back into the sign of Libra later on Wednesday, at 3:42pm EST. This, too, will bring a change in perspective, though relationships continue to be strongly highlighted here. Expect conversations to begin to circle around what is fair and just within your partnerships. Lovers, friends, and colleagues will all be expected to pick up the slack, so anyone who hasn’t been doing their fair share can expect to be called out on it. Here’s an intention you can use throughout the week: “I trust that my ancestors stand behind me, and I open to their guidance.” And if you’d like to connect with the energies of Samhain or All Soul’s Day, here is a tarot spread to try: 1. What story did my ancestors give to me? 2. What lesson do they want me to see now? 3. How can I honour my history? 4. How can I invite my ancestors to guide me? Until next time, Liz xo
How are you doing? Personal planet Venus started its retrograde period earlier this month, on Friday, October 5. We have a month left of this retrograde, and this can be a good time to check in with yourself to see how it’s affecting you. For me, astrology, tarot, and other forms of divination all straddle a gray area between prediction and intention. I always encourage people to operate from the latter category as much as possible. “While the stars impel, they do not compel,” says Rabbi Philip S. Berg in his book on Kabbalistic astrology, The Star Connection. I love this quote because it reminds us that planets don’t make us do anything. They do not think on our behalf. They do not take responsibility for our actions. We can look at astrology to get a sense of what is possible, and what themes, thoughts, or energies might become more pronounced under certain transits. But it doesn’t mean that a transit will be the same for everyone – or even be felt by everyone. We are all living our own stories, and we can choose to tap into the flow of the universe and determine how those external energies may apply to our own personal lives. I see so many “rules” about what not to do during retrograde periods, as though these things become universal law for all. But I prefer to be practical about it all, rather than having a knee-jerk reaction that only repeats old ideas – or superstitions – about what astrology will do within a given timeframe. The truth is, no one can say for certain how an astrological event will impact all, or few people. Yes, we can make predictions, but that is all they are – theories and estimations based on what is most probable given the energies of a day, or season. Some people have laundry list of things to avoid during Venus retrograde: Don’t get a haircut. Don’t get any spa or cosmetic treatments. Don’t buy any new clothes. Don’t get married. Don’t fall in love. Don’t commission any creative work. Don’t change your appearance too drastically. Don’t plan a wedding. The list can go on. We see the same thing with Mercury retrograde, when people are advised not to sign contracts, travel, or make any major purchases. But are these rules the best use of astrology? I always say that if it works for you, by all means go for it. But I also say that no one should feel they need to put their lives on hold because of astrology, either. Rules are really just guidelines, and they can be loose ones at that. Should hairdressers and spas close shop for the 40+ days of Venus retrograde? Are we suggesting that hairstylists, artists, and estheticians suddenly lose all power, skill, training, and ability during that time? Are we suggesting that each of us doesn’t have jurisdiction over our own hair, appearance, and maintenance? Should we hide inside all day, say no to every social engagement, and just wait out a retrograde? Our own thinking, capability, and decision-making can’t, and shouldn’t, go out the window for the sake of astrology. Instead, it’s best to use these times purposefully by paying attention to what seems to matter most now. It’s also important to remember that many other influences are at work, too, not just astrologically, but within our own personal lives. I have gotten tattoos during Venus and Mars retrograde and they all turned out just fine, thank you. I am going to two weddings this fall, neither of which I am worried about. A marriage is not built out of a single event. These people have already made their commitments to each other long before they ever planned their weddings. I would never tell someone to call off a wedding date because of Venus retrograde. If you are worried about how Venus retrograde, or any retrograde period for that matter, will affect you, you can always remind yourself that we live through retrogrades again and again. Venus retrograde occurs about every 18 months, though last time it was in Aries, which is a different energy than Scorpio. When I think back to the last two times Venus was retrograde in Scorpio – fall 2002 and 2010 – I had new work opportunities come my way each time. Choices were made, and I got clearer about the paths I wanted to take – just as we see in the choices that are held in the tarot’s Two of Wands. Previously, I also found myself doing some deep work to move on from older aspects of my personality that I no longer wanted to put forward. I was learning to make new impressions on the world, but first I had to let go of my old ways. You might feel that you are making similar choices as the days roll on. Or, you might find yourself thinking back to past experiences, too, and finding new connections and points of growth. This week’s energies indicate new awakenings around what it’s time to shake up, or break up with. I also find that retrograde periods can bear many gifts, if we choose to notice them. The important thing is that you pay attention to what feels relevant for you right now. Don’t let someone else’s list of do’s and dont’s dictate your own destiny. Astrology can give direction, but you’re the driver. Until next time, Liz xo
10/8/2018 0 Comments Opening to new possibilities: Welcoming the New Moon in Libra and Mercury in Scorpio (by Liz Worth)The New Moon in Libra arrives today at 11:47pm EST. This New Moon gives us the opportunity for a fresh start within our personal and creative endeavours. Libra can help to support any intentions for love, friendship, and relationships overall. The Libra New Moon can be a time to look at what you are ready to invite into your life on an emotional level. Or a time to look at mending any relationships that have drifted, torn, or become worn down. But with Venus, Libra’s ruler, retrograde until November 16, your intentions around this New Moon may feel a little different than other years. Venus retrograde asks you to look at how you communicate your desires: How do you prioritize your emotional health? And how do the people you are relationship to prioritize your feelings, and their own? In relationships – whether they are professional or personal ones – you can state your needs and assert your boundaries all day long. But if those boundaries remain unacknowledged, it really doesn’t make a difference what you do to maintain, protect, or grow yourself within that relationship. Has that ever happened to you? It can be so frustrating, and defeating, to get into broken-record mode with a friend, colleague, or partner. To keep them saying to someone, “I need time for this, not that” and have nothing change. If you feel like you are speaking a different language with someone right now, trust that the energies of this moment are supporting you in dealing with that relationship. Of course, this is a time where we each need to pay attention to the signals we are getting from others, as well. Retrogrades have a way of highlighting patterns, so if someone is raising a familiar conversation with you, look for ways to move forward – and use this New Moon to help cut a new path for all involved. Venus retrograde can be a strong creative time, and that may be another need that is going unmet for you right now. Why is it so hard to take time for ourselves? Why is there an epidemic of creative projects languishing in notebooks, desktops, and vision boards? Why do so many of us have dreams to create something just for ourselves, and yet we barely manage to get around to it sometimes? Watch out for past ideas to tug at your sleeves now. Especially with Mercury entering Scorpio tomorrow, Tuesday, October 9 at 8:40pm. Mercury shifts out of airy Libra and nosedives into Scorpio’s ocean for sunken treasure. What will the messenger planet uncover for you? What brilliant idea is lurking under your surface, waiting to be resuscitated? Creativity is a relationship like any other, and this next month and counting can be an intensive period of creative recovery. We see that in this week’s card, the Eight of Wands. Many possibilities can begin to emerge for you now, personally and creatively. Let them loose and see where things land. While Libra is symbolized by the scales, this is a time to remind ourselves not to get lost in the idea of perfection, or ideals, but in finding a balance within our own harmonies – whatever the mix, or compromise, may be. If it helps, here is an intention for today’s New Moon in Libra: “I open to new ways of showing up.” And here is a tarot spread to help you connect with the Libra New Moon: 1. What needs to be honoured in my relationships? 2. What new beginning can I create with those I love? 3. What can I do to be heard? 4. What or who do I need to listen to now? Until next time, Liz xo p.s. Registration is now open for my new online course, Tarot for Self-Recovery and Reclamation. As the sixth sign of the zodiac, Libra season reminds us that we are halfway through the astrological year. Aries starts us off every March, and sits in opposition to Libra. Today brings the Aries Full Moon, a culmination point that connects back to March 17. Full moons bring things to fruition, and so we are asked to reflect back on our plans just before the 2018 spring season began. Full moons are markers in our greater chapters. They are places where we can put a period on the end of a sentence, or get a revealing insight that helps to answer something we weren’t clear on six months before. If you had set any intentions on or around March 17, or had any significant events around then, you might want to check in this week to see how things have transpired since. Today’s Moon reaches fullness at 10:52pm EST, in a tight conjunction with Chiron, the Wounded Healer. Conjunctions amplify the energies of the planets involved. Chiron is still retrograde. Together, Chiron and today’s Full Moon can provide an opportunity to see where some of your old stories are ready to conclude. These stories can connect to patterns or past experiences that have blocked your ability to assert yourself in the world. They can connect to blocks you’ve run into that have stalled your independence, determination, or confidence. Aries wants to win. It wants to succeed, but only ever on its own terms. Let today’s energies show you where you can find freedom. If something has been holding you back – insecurity, shyness, motivation – allow it to be released to this Full Moon. Let today’s energy show you a new way forward.
We are in the final days of summer. In my part of the world, school starts in early September, after Labour Day, which always feels like the unofficial start of fall. But the first day of autumn actually begins with the fall equinox and the Sun’s entry Libra, which occurs this Saturday, September 22, at 9:54pm. For me, paying attention to the seasons isn’t just about weather watching. It is about stepping in and out of distinctive themes and energies time and time again. We come to associate certain memories and expectations with every season. We also feel differently as these cycles come and go. For many of us, autumn can be an inspiring time. The days gets shorter. Night reigns, changing our desires and routines. You might be craving early evenings when you can get tucked into bed with a book. Or you might be galvanized by that back-to-school feeling, seeking out workshops or classes to take. Or you might simply be looking forward to some of your own fall traditions, and enjoying the season as it is. The Fall Equinox gives us a balance of night and day, just as we see in the scales of Libra. It is a powerful time to get clear about what is tipping your scales. As we move into the harvest season, we are asked to prepare for what we’ve sown throughout the year, as well as to mourn any crops that haven’t grown as planned. Or, to realize that we’ve planted seeds that no longer nourish us. Chapters close at these times. Friendships, jobs, projects, and business plans that are taking more energy than they are worth come up for re-evaluation.
The Fall Equinox asks you to see what is coming along with you as the seasons change, and what is being left behind. Trust in the steps you are taking now, whether it’s towards something new, or away from something old. Light a candle for yourself on September 22 and make a promise that you will care for the harvest of your life in any way necessary. Until next time, Liz
