About Maria

I am (she, her) a Counsellor who practices somatically and spiritually informed psychodynamic psychotherapy from a humanistic, feminist, anti-oppressive, and client-centred perspective which sees clients as the experts in their own experience. The recognition of one's unique strengths and realities can help folks regain a sense of power, agency, and responsibility for their lives that can be lost from experiences of abuse or marginalization. I aim to create a safe, nonjudgmental space for clients to explore the inner world and to guide them on their journey through healing traumas both large and small. My practice is sex-worker, LGBTQ2, and BIPOC positive.

In my practice, I work collaboratively with clients to facilitate the exploratory process of self-discovery and inner transformation. This means clients are in charge of what they want to disclose and achieve in therapy. I understand that the decision to seek out counselling can be a challenging for many people and that creating a relationship of trust takes time. My aim is to provide a compassionate, culturally-sensitive and socially aware perspective to help people find more clarity and ease in their lives.

I have a background in yoga, mindfulness meditation and in domestic violence research.

Feel free to contact me to arrange a free 15-minute phone consultation to see if I might be a suitable counsellor for you and to figure out how I can assist you in finding more clarity and confidence in yourself and your journey.
